Community Focused

Dependable and safe

Compassion Home Care was founded in 2009 by Yenoh Elizabeth Kosia, whose calling to serve others was shaped through years of hands-on experience in community-based care.

While working with one of the largest provider agencies in Chattanooga ( Orange Grove), Ms. Kosia supported individuals with complex and challenging needs. Despite the difficulties of the work, the individuals she served consistently trusted her, connected with her, and felt safe in her care.

Their protection and affection inspired her dream of creating homes where people would feel respected, valued, and genuinely supported.

That dream became clearer during an unexpected visit to a client whom she went to braid her hair as a hair braider. Upon realizing she was inside a group home, Ms. Kosia felt a deep conviction that this was the path she was meant to follow.

At the time, she was enrolled in nursing school, but a mentor—known to her as Miss Joyce—encouraged her to pursue her passion for community living services. Miss Joyce guided her through the early stages of understanding group home operations and helped her believe that this vision was possible.

When Ms. Kosia first submitted paperwork to register the business with the Secretary of State, the application was returned due to an unspecified issue. After reviewing the documents and finding no clear error, she took the moment as a sign to pause and reflect.

Turning to her faith for guidance, she opened her Bible, and the first word that stood out to her was “Compassion.” She changed the business name to Compassion Home Care, resubmitted the application, and it was approved without delay. For Ms. Kosia, the name was more than a title—it became the foundation of a mission built on service, dignity, faith, and purpose.

Compassion is not just a value. It is an action.
